The problem
A premium product line with no digital storefront in a category dominated by visual trust signals.
26 SKUs shipped in 9 working days. Premium storefront, zero CDN dependency.
Market context: Premium-positioned FMCG · trust-sensitive category · high-photography requirement · low operating-cost mandate.

The brief
What the client actually needed.
A premium dairy brand launching its Bilona ghee line and 25 supporting SKUs. The category trades on trust signals — provenance, process, packaging — and the brand needed a storefront that carried those signals visually. The constraint was budget. A traditional CDN-backed e-commerce build would have eaten the launch budget. The brief was to ship a premium storefront with operating costs near zero.
The problem
What was broken — in numbers.
Premium presentation, FMCG margins, and a launch deadline. Three constraints in tension.
- SKUs to launch
- 26
- Hero positioning
- Bilona ghee (premium, provenance-led)
- Operating cost budget
- Near-zero ongoing
- Time-to-live
- 9 working days
The approach
What we did. Why.
We took the architectural decision out of the budget conversation and into the build itself.
- Static site generation with all product imagery base64-embedded into the page — zero CDN, zero image hosting cost
- Bilona ghee as the architectural hero — the visual centre of the storefront, supporting SKUs structured around it
- Full handoff documentation so the in-house team could maintain catalogue updates without re-engaging the studio
The execution
Inside the work.
Base64-embedded imagery
Every product image — 26 SKUs, 4-6 images each — was converted to base64 and embedded directly into the static HTML. The site has no image CDN, no hosting bill beyond the static-site host. PageSpeed cleared 95 because the browser pre-fetches nothing.
Bilona ghee as hero
Bilona ghee is the differentiator — slow process, traditional method, premium positioning. We built the storefront with Bilona ghee at the centre. The other 25 SKUs feed into it as a category set, not as equals. Premium hierarchy made the catalogue scan correctly on the first visit.
The outcome
What moved. And why.
Live in production on day 9. Premium presentation, FMCG operating cost. 95+ PageSpeed across the catalogue.
- 26 SKUs structured, written, and shipped
- In-house team trained on catalogue maintenance without studio dependency
- Storefront has run for six months on near-zero hosting cost
What didn’t work
Every honest case study has one. This builds more trust than ten testimonials.
Base64 embedding made the HTML files large. The first build broke the host’s file-size limit and we spent half a day restructuring the routing to split the catalogue across multiple HTML files instead of one. A 30-minute host-limit check before the build would have caught it. We over-trusted the tooling.
